MALACCA: Ramli Abdul Aziz thought his daughter was suffering from the common flu, especially since she had caught it from her brother who had recovered from a bout of flu.

Yesterday, the 45-year-old was still in grief and shock after the death of his daughter.

She was the country’s fourth A (H1N1) fatality.

“I thought that she had a normal flu and did not think that it would lead to her death.

Where do you take your children on the weekends? Roam the malls and then treat them at fast food restaurants? If that’s what you have always done then you’re purposely shortening your children life. Most of the fast food restaurants use processed meats which were associated with higher risk of causing cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

People who eat the most red meat and the most processed meat have the highest overall risk of death from all causes, including heart disease and cancer, U.S. researchers reported on Monday.

“Red and processed meat intakes were associated with modest increases in total mortality, cancer mortality, and cardiovascular disease mortality,” Sinha and colleagues wrote in the Archives of Internal Medicine.

They divided the volunteers into five groups, called quintiles. Between 1995 and 2005, 47,976 men and 23,276 women died.

The quintile who ate the most red meat had a higher risk for overall death, death from heart disease and cancer than the men and women who ate the least red meat.

The researchers said thousands of deaths could be prevented if people simply ate less meat.

Many studies have shown that people who eat less meat are healthier in many ways, and Sinha’s team noted that meat contains several cancer-causing chemicals, as well as the unhealthiest forms of fat.

Just dump these kind of food from your outing menu. Consume more vegetables and grains, do some exercise weekly and stay healthy.

According to the research done by Yamaha and Tohoku University riding motorbike will make your brain activated and improve your cognitive response.

“Mental care is a very big issue in modern society,” said Kawashima. “I think we made an interesting stir here as data showed you can improve your mental condition simply by using motorbikes to commute.”

Get yourself a new motorbike if you don’t have one and start riding it on your weekends.

As always there will be some greedy and ’sick’ minded people that will resort to unethical business practice taking advantage on this situation. What they have in mind is just to amass quick wealth without thinking the consequences and long term effect to their customers.

Unsuspecting customers will compare the price offered by these centres and usually they will choose the cheapest, but even the cheapest price offered will run to more than RM500.00 per treatment with some excluding the products cost.

These customers are spending their hard earn money or sometimes their savings to have a better facial complexion and gain more confidence in the public but these rascal entrepreneurs are cheating them without any guilt feeling.

So we have another case of unethical business in Penang and Sabah exposed by the Ministry of Health as reported in The Star today. Read it here.

Directors of the company should not only be fined but also jailed for cheating and endangering their customers health with fake products. Heavy punishment should be imposed on them to deter others from commiting the same unethical business practice.

According to the reports the milk manufacturer had received various compliants against their diary products back on December 2007 but instead of taking remedial action and reporting the matter to the regulators they just continue to do business as usual.

Of course the effect to people cumsuming the milk was not immediate, it took more than six months before the deadly effect manifest.

Even sweets from China tested by our Ministry of Health contain melamine. So guys, STOP buying any diary food imported from China.

Anyway does the milk and diary product claimed to be safe in our country is really safe to consume?  Better be safe than sorry.

Sorry, no ice cream this coming Hari Raya.
